Gastroenurital

I haven't been feeling all that well for the past couple of days. It's not that I'm sick, I've been going to work, it's just that, how can I put this delicately, my stomach has been very gastroenurital (yes I'm making up words now) this week. Most of the time, noone ever knows why they have to spend more time in the bathroom for a couple of days. We usually tell ourselves that it must have been something we ate. This morning I pinpointed what put me in the condition I am in.

I like to put cold half & half in my coffee, but I noticed something different about it this morning. When I poured it into my coffee cup, it was very clumpy and didn't mix well with the coffee to produce the proper color I was looking for. I poured that cup out, looked at the date on the creamer and realized why I've been sick. I've been drinking my coffee every morning this week, and the expiration date was May 15th. So that's why your supposed to smell the milk, or milk products, before every use. I'll have to do that more often.

In case you were wondering....yes, it did smell bad, I just neglected to smell it before using it.

Relay For Life Part II

It truly astounds me how many people have been affected by cancer. I bet that you would be hard pressed to find anyone who has not had or known someone who has fought cancer. Because of that, I was expecting a good turn out at the Relay for Life. I wasn't expecting it to be as packed as it was though.

If you haven't heard of Relay For Life, or you don't know what they do, they collect donations for cancer research. Everyone who wants to participate can do so simply by going and walking. You can be sponsered by your friends and family and donate that money to Relay For Life. They also had a lot of vendors who were selling their products and donating a portion of their proceeds to the research.

What I didn't know is that the event goes all night long. There were many groups out there who had their tents and/or sleeping bags all set up and were ready to spend the night out there. I think we'll do that next year. I did manage to snap off a few pictures and posted them here.

Retiring the Remote

Five years ago, Marcy left her job at Sears on maternity leave, to have and take care of Breanna. When Breanna was almost two, we both went to work for her Dad. That didn't work out, so I got the job I'm in today and Marcy went back to Breanna. Today, Marcy hangs up her remote control & bon bons (to which I have been told by Kerry she ate, but could never find) and rejoins the ranks of the employed no, don't do it as she starts her new job at Pier One Imports. I still have not quite found my niche, but Marcy might have done just that as she loves decorating. At the very least, our furniture will probably start to improve no? Congratulations babe, and good luck today.

Competitiveness

I am a competitive person. A very competitive person. I think I still may be understating my competitive drive. I've been so for as long as I can remember. I do not like to lose. I don't care what it is I am doing, whether it's playing a sport, or a video game, something inside of me drives me and constantly tells me not to lose. It's not something I can control. Ask my wife and she will tell you how I can not even let my kids win at anything. She keeps telling me that I should try out for survivor because I would win. The bad part is, I believe her.

I don't know if this drive stems from the fact that I grew up in Cleveland, and as a die-hard Cleveland sports fan, I have never watched any of my teams win a championship; Or if it is from my father, who has never let me beat him at anything, from running windsprints out in front of our house when I was growing up to playing pool. I sometimes played pool for hours on end in high school, desperately trying to get good enough to beat him, sadly I never could. Either way, I am a person who despises losing, no matter who my opponent is, even if it's the MS Blaster worm.

I could go into detail about my battle on Friday night, but that would probably bore you to tears. Instead, just know that I came out victorious and I'll give you a couple examples of recreational games that no matter how infrequently I play, I still expect to win and play extremely well:

Baseball/Softball
Basketball
Football
Pool
Darts
Air Hockey
Shuffleboard, Yes shuffleboard(the kind you find in a bar, not a cruiseline)

Time for renewal

Spring, a time for life to be reborn. A time for renewal. Flowers start to bloom, baby animals take their first steps, but most importantly...time to get rid of all of your old stuff so that you can get new stuff. Time for a garage sale and that's exactly what we're doing this weekend. Feel free to drop by if your in the area and help us get rid of some of this stuff.

As we were getting all of that "stuff" from storage and packing "it" in the garage yesterday, I looked over at my neighbor's house and saw the most peculiar thing. I thought for a brief second that I had stepped into an episode of King Of The Hill. Since that show is a cartoon, and impossible to actually step into, I could only come to two possible conclusions for the picture below. Either the CIA has found a new technology to spy on the whole neighborhood, OR, our neighbors have lost their satellite service and are really trying to get something for free (Notice the tin foil attaching the right ear to the dish). Which do you think it is?

I Like It, But Why Are My Teeth Blue?

I finally did it. I finally made the jump to PocketPC. A couple of months ago my CLIE got stolen out of my car, so I've been in the market for a new handheld ever since. I'm happy to report that I'm posting this from the comfort of my bed on my new iPaq h1945 using a bluetooth connection. I still haven't figured out how to perform an activesync through the bluetooth connection, but I'm sure I'll get it eventually. At least I've got the internet connection, so I'll be happy with that for now. Hope you're all having a good weekend.

That Look Like Some Funny Money

Warning, the background music in this video will get stuck in your head and you will sing it for the rest of the day.

It's amazing to me how many times some of these people try to get it. OK, I have to admit that I would probably get caught trying to pick it up as well, but I can't believe that I would go get help and come back to it. I mean, how much can it be? I imagine that, at the most, it could only be the equivalent of a silver dollar.

My other problem with this is that, once I tried to pick it up and realized it was stuck, I would probably not want to know what was making it stick to the ground. My first thought would be to walk away and go wash my hands. Maybe that's just me though.
